For the Lonely
Because not everyone fits in
|
Its not that I’m depressed,
Or even feeling blue,
It’s just that I’m a stranger,
In this homo sapien zoo.
It runs on fine without me,
As I sit here on my own,
Where despite the many people,
I feel so much alone.
I might be just a shadow,
That others barely see,
Or just another browning leaf,
That falls from the tree.
At times they show indulgence,
Though only to be polite,
The world marches ever on,
And most avert their sight.
I could I s’pose march with them,
And fake complicity,
Like a boy beside the soldiers,
And fake alacrity.
It’s not that I’m depressed,
Or even feeling blue,
I just dont seem to fit,
In the world of ‘me’ and ‘you’
Perhaps I’m just depressed,
When all is said and done,
Down and out, just for laughs,
A victim just for fun,
But if i had my say in it,
I’d rather be on top,
Cresting all the waves of life,
With a drive that will not stop.
Its not that I’m depressed,
Or even feeling blue,
It’s just that I’m a stranger,
In this homo sapien zoo.
