About these Stories Updated 20080722 () I have tried to maintain a balanced approach in these stories. In other words, while they tend towards a Christian point-of-view, they also attempt to support other faiths without denying or denigrating their beliefs. I personally believe that there is only one way but the particular way that is the only way for me might not be the way for you. Bit deep huh?
Some stories are a little humoro more
The Smell at the Front Updated 20080624 ()
Dan Richmond looked at the bundle of old clothes heaped on the very front pew of Brackstone County Church and sighed a long, hard sigh. Not because the pile of clothes contained lots of dirt; not because the pile of clothes contained lots of wear and tear; not even because the pile of clothes contained a significant aroma of unwashed sweat. No, the reason that Dan Richmond, Elder of Brackstone more

Commentaries Updated 20080515 (Things I think that you should think) We’re all guilty of ’knowing’ the way things are, of ’seeing things clearly’. These editorials are just my opinions on a range of different subjects. That doesn’t make them right, or my thinking correct. So don’t get too cross if you disagree, or think they are just the ranting of a simpleton. On the other hand, don’t just dismiss them either. You never know - I might just say something worth more

Holy Spirit Calling Updated 20080509 () Suddenly there was a noise from the sky which sounded like a strong wind blowing……they saw what looked like tongues of fire which spread out and touched each person there……. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in other languages, as the Spirit enabled them to speak. Acts 2:1-4
I felt inspired to use a language for today’s prayers other than the norm. Not a foreign lang more
Holy Spirit - Fill Us Updated 20080509 ()
Many of the congregation will be aware that Friday was a World Day of Prayer. The theme was “Holy Spirit, Fill Us”. In the interests of conservation and recycling, I thought we might re-use it today. Besides, what better thing can we ask for?
So, today’s Prayers of the People will be responsive for any who wish to contribute. When you hear the words “Fill Us With The Holy Spirit”, please more

You Are Part Of World Peace Updated 20080504 ((An essential part!))
The whole point of this web site is really to achieve world peace.
I guess the title is a bit of a giveaway there. But rather than try to change
the world (which is the aim) I prefer to change the individual which then leads
to the changing of the world.
To quote the Dalai Lama:
"Without inner peace, it is impossible to have world peace."

Proverbs 31 :10-31 The Capable Wife Updated 20080504 (An interpretation for today) Sometimes it can be hard to relate to biblical scripture - especially when society
seems to have changed. A typical example might be the description in Proverbs 31
of a ’Capable Wife’. How many wives now would (for example) make cloth from
wool and linen? Not mine, that’s for sure.
Yet there is still much wisdom here and - with sometimes a little tongue in cheek that

’Twas the Night Before Christmas Updated 20080504 ()
Three years ago I presented a Prayers of the People on Boxing Day. I felt compelled to ‘repeat’ that prayer, with a couple of minor alterations. A sort of Director’s Cut I suppose.
You may recall the famous poem by Clement Clarke-Moore ‘Twas the Night before Christmas. In the spirit of that poem, aided by the immeasurable power of the Holy Spirit, I bring to you the prayers of the people.

’Twas the Night After Christmas Updated 20080504 (A different take on Clement Clarke Moore’s classic poem)
I hope you will all forgive the uniqueness of this prayer. I felt directed to pursue a slightly different course this time, and all my attempts to resist met with failure. Whether I like it or not, this prayer was meant to be.
Some of you may recall the famous poem by Clement Clarke Moore (no relation) - Twas the Night before Christmas. The Prayers of the People today owes something to that p more

Why we need SORRY! Updated 20080429 ()
Whatever 2008 has in store for us, it will certainly be remembered in Australia as
the year that Australia said ’SORRY’ to it’s indigenous population.
In truth, the Prime Minister - Mr Rudd - said sorry, and many people agreed with that.
Many people, but not all. Many Australians have not said sorry, nor see any reason
to do so. Either they are in denial of the atrocities committed aga more
